More about CarolynOver 50
Strength that helps you keep doing the things you actually want to do — carrying groceries up a brownstone stoop, keeping up on a Central Park loop, travelling without thinking twice. Coaching for adults in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond at our West 72nd Street and Broadway studios.

You do not need a training background to start. A first session is a conversation and an assessment: what you have done before, what your joints think of it now, what you want to be able to do in ten years. From there your coach writes a program you can actually repeat.
Most people are surprised by how quickly the first changes show up — not in the mirror, but in how a flight of stairs or a heavy suitcase feels. That is the point. Strength is the trait that keeps the rest of life available to you.

Loads that increase deliberately over months, not weeks — the mechanism behind building and holding onto muscle at any age.
Weight-bearing and loaded movement patterns, coached with attention to position, so the skeleton gets the stimulus alongside the muscle.
Step-ups, split stances, carries and controlled single-leg work — the strength that shows up on curbs, stairs and uneven pavement.
Range of motion trained under light load so it holds up outside the studio, rather than stretching that fades by the afternoon.
A cranky shoulder, a replaced knee, a back that has opinions. Your coach programs around it and adjusts session by session.
Learning what a hard set feels like in a private room, with a coach's hands on the bar, so effort stops feeling risky.
Both PWR studios are private rooms rather than open commercial gym floors. Nobody is waiting for your rack, the music is at a conversational volume, and your coach is beside you for the whole hour.
You are also not training around a crowd of twenty-somethings. A meaningful share of our clients are over 50, and the room reflects that.

"Everything I've read about longevity points to the importance of weight training, so I decided to give it a try… now I'm completely hooked. Emily is lovely, inspiring, and an incredibly skilled teacher. The gym itself is inclusive, positive, and genuinely welcoming — every body truly feels at home here."
Strength, balance & joint comfort
"I've been training with Katelyn for a few months, and have been thrilled to see improvements in strength, balance and reduced joint pain — all areas I needed to address. She's a terrific coach, with a great attitude and positive energy."
